The history of Winnsboro goes back to 1854 when a man by the name of John E. Winn was passing through the east end of Wood County. He became the founder of this small Old-Fashioned town. Original name was Crossroads, but changed in 1901 to Winnsboro to honor its founder. Winnsboro is known for its colorful Autumn leaves and many activities and festivals.
