NATIONAL FOREST RECREATION AREAS

Angelina National Forest | Davy Crockett National Forest | Sabine National Forest | Sam Houston National Forest
The Angelina, Davy Crocket, Sabine and Sam Houston National Forests are located in the 'Piney Woods' of East Texas. The Caddo and Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands are located in the north and northeast part of Texas. For information on the Texas Grasslands contact USDA Forest Service (information below). All of the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas are managed by the U.S. Forest Service.

• Fee areas are self-deposit for either overnight camping or day use.
Developed recreational areas have varying facilities.
Some have electricity, water, sewer and primitive camping (see information below).
Some areas have been designated 'wilderness areas' for those wanting a completely primitive experience. In these areas, no wheeled vehicles are allowed - of any kind.
Hunting and fishing is regulated by The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
