Port Aransas is located on Mustang Island across Aransas Bay from the city of Aransas Pass and slightly northeast of Corpus Christi.
State Highway 361 via a bridge gives tourists access to the island, or take one of the ferries that transports cars and vacationeers back and forth across the bay daily. Today Port Aransas is a popular vacation spot for tourists because of it's miles of beaches, outstanding fishing, and affordable lodging and RV parks; however, in the 1800's it was a favorite stopping off spot for pirates.
Today, there are loads of activities in the area - including shopping, surfing, kiteboarding, horseback riding on the beach, golfing, fishing (recreational and competition), boating, and dining at the many fine restaurants.
