Set among the beautiful pine and dogwood trees of East Texas, Palestine is intersected by State Highways 287, 79 and 190. The downtown area displays early 1800's architecture with the buildings now home to antique shops, restaurants and specialty shops. Take time to ride the steam engine train that runs from Rusk to Palestine. The ride through the countryside of East Texas is particularly breath taking during the spring and fall.
The Columbia Balloon Facility - operated by NASA - is something the whole family will enjoy and tours can be arranged through the public relations officer (903-723-3014). The picturesque parks, historical museums and old steam engine train rides make Palestine a fun filled stopping spot.
