Amarillo is served by Interstates 40 and 27, State Highways 87, 287 and 60. Located in the Texas 'pan handle', this city is a recreational and cultural center for this part of the state. Also is the world's leading helium producer. A 6-story helium monument was erected in 1968 to commorate the location of the world's greatest quantity of this element.
The 56 parks cover over 2,000 acres and include swimming pools, fishing, and golf. While here be sure to visit the Alibates National Monument.
Amarillo was located on the old Route 66 so look for the signs put up by the Texas Department of Transportation. You can still find restaurants and other busiAmarillo is full of history with lots to do.
